The IMD said low pressure had formed in southern Thailand and surrounding areas on Tuesday and would continue to move across the Central Andaman Sea in the evening and would remain in the area until 8.30am on Wednesday. The meteorological department said the storm would reach the coasts of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh on the morning of December 4.
Rain may fall in Gujarat in December
December 2 is heavy for Gujarat. The meteorological department has forecast rain. Gujarat may get rains on December 2 following Andhra and Odisha Jawad hurricanes. Gujarat, North Central Maharashtra and North Konkan are likely to receive heavy rains on December 1, while Gujarat and North Central Maharashtra are likely to receive rains at different places on December 2.
Hurricanes in December for the first time in 130 years
The first hurricane hit the country in December 1891. For the second time since 1891, the country is facing the threat of Hurricane Jawad in December. Odisha will now face Cyclone Jawad in 2013 with Super Cyclone in 1999, Hoodhood in 2014, Fanny in 2019 and Amphan in 2020.

There have been no cyclones in the Bay of Bengal in the last 130 years, but there have been many cyclones in the Indian Ocean in December. In December 1964, a cyclone formed in the South Andaman Sea. The cyclone caused winds of 280 km per hour. Heavy rains also caused high waves in the sea.
