 Corona has decided to give a partial waiver to the ongoing mini lockdown in the state following the transition.  The state will have a partial lockdown from tomorrow till May 27.  As a result, traders will be able to keep their shops open from 9 am to 3 pm.  This was announced by the Chief Minister in Pipavav.  However, night curfews will remain in place in 36 cities.

 Following the decision, lorries, galleys and traders will be allowed to trade in the state for six hours from May 21.  However only essential services will continue after 3 p.m.  All shops can be kept open for 6 hours only.

 Earlier, it was decided to keep the night curfew and additional restrictions on May 18, 19 and 20 for three days due to the cyclone situation.

 All types of manufacturing / industrial units will continue
 It has been decided to continue all types of manufacturing / industrial units and raw material supplying units for the purpose of continuing manufacturing activities and industries in the state and not causing any inconvenience to the workers, transportation for their staff will continue.  In the meantime, strictly follow the COVID-19 guidelines.  Construction related activities will continue during which COVID-19 related guidelines will have to be strictly followed.

 The state government has also instructed the bank management to ensure that the supply of money in ATMs is maintained during this period.  During this period all types of malls will be closed across the state except educational institutes and coaching centers (except online education), cinema theaters, auditoriums, assembly halls, water parks, public gardens, swimming pools.

 7.71 lakh cases and 9,340 deaths in the state so far
 So far 7 lakh 71 thousand 447 reports have come positive in the state, while the death toll has risen to 9 thousand 340 and 6 lakh 69 thousand 490 patients have been discharged so far.  Speaking of active cases, there are currently 92 thousand 617 active cases in the state, out of which 742 patients are on ventilator, while 91 thousand 875 patients are in stable condition.

Senior officials said the restrictions currently imposed on weekends in Maharashtra. It can be extended and implemented till next week. However the lockdown will not be as severe as it was last year. "We are not imposing any restrictions on public transport but people are not allowed to travel without a reason," an official said on condition of anonymity. This way the train or plane will not stop for a long time. Our purpose behind operating trains and buses is to ensure that those who leave home are not inconvenienced due to vaccinations, examinations and other necessary work.

An official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the experts involved in the task force believe that at least 2 weeks of lockdown is needed to break the chain of corona transition in the state. The Maharashtra government had announced a weekend lockdown by Monday morning to Friday night. But the sanctions that will be imposed now will be stricter than before.




In Maharashtra, 55,411 new cases were registered on Saturday, bringing the total number in the state to 33,43,951. The total death toll reached 57,638 with 309 deaths in one day. Currently 5,36,682 are undergoing treatment. So 53,005 people have been given leave in one day. A total of 27,48,153 people have since recovered. The transition rate here is 82.18 percent. The mortality rate is 1.72 percent. The state is testing 2,19,977 samples a day. A total of 2,18,51,235 people have been tested so far.
